| CHIANG MAI SPECIAL |
Day 1 : Chiang Mai
You will be met by our representative at the appointed seat in coach time at the ATTA waiting lounge and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure for you to explore your surroundings. Although Thais think of Chiang Mai as a quaint, moated and walled city surrounded by mountains with legendary, mystical attributes, the fact is that Chiang Mai has departed from that image to become a modern, cosmopolitan city that is similar in many ways to Bangkok. However many visitors end up staying longer because of the high quality and relatively low price of accommodations, shopping, the international feel of the city and its friendly people. Tonight you could do an optional dinner at the Old Chiang Mai Cultural Centre. This is a traditional northern |
 |
Khantoke Dinner. You will enjoy northern cultural dances which is followed by a Hill Tribe cultural program. (You need to specify to us in advance if you are vegetarian or non-vegetarian. Please note that the food is only Thai.) Overnight at Hotel.
Day 2 : Chiang Mai
After breakfast you will be taken on an orientation tour of the city. You will also be taken to visit Wat Suan Dok Temple which houses the ashes of Lanna King and Chiang Mai Royal Family. You will also visit the oldest temple in Chiang Mai. We recommend the optional tour of Doi Suthep which is a temple that is located on a 1676m peak. It is one of the Norths most holy shrines. A naga staircase of 300 steps takes you up to the temple (there is a tram which you could use if you are not up to the exercise). At the summit you can enjoy a birds eye view of Chiang Mai. Inside the cloister is an exquisite Lanna style copper plated chedi topped by a five-tiered gold umbrella - one of the holiest chedis in Thailand. In the afternoon visit the factories that manufacture silk, lacquerware, silverware and handicrafts in the San Kamphaeng area of Chiang Mai. Overnight at Hotel.
